My Services
My doula services include:
- An initial interview. We will meet or talk on the phone and begin to get to know each other. At or after the initial interview we both decide if we want to work together. Preferably this interview will occur at least two months before your due date. The more time we have to discuss birthing options, the better prepared we will be. However, I will work with you even if you contact me just before birth. Please see the interview page for what to ask a doula.
- Two prenatal appointments. At the first meeting, we will talk about your desires for your birth, look at your birth plan, and discuss logistics. At the second meeting, we can practice labor positions and massage, discuss what to bring to the hospital, and finalize plans.
- Unlimited phone and email consultation.
- I will be on-call for two weeks before and after your due date. (In the event that you birth outside of this time frame, I will still make every attempt to be there for your birth.)
- Birth support from the time that labor begins up until after the baby is born. This includes encouragement, massage, pain management techniques, physical presence, and help with clarifying medical choices. After the birth, this includes support and help with breastfeeding.
- One postnatal appointment. We will talk about how the birth went and admire your beautiful new baby. You will be presented with a written birth story.
I will always have a partner doula so that in the event that I am unable to attend your birth (which would only include dire circumstances such as extreme illness or a death in the family) there will be someone who can. You will meet my backup doula at one or more of our appointments. It is also possible for there to be two doulas present at your birth to provide added support.
In addition, I maintain a small but growing lending library for my clients' use. Check my library page for a list of recommended reading, where you'll also find which books are currently on my shelf available to loan.
